This year marks the first time that Fairtrade will appear at the Edinburgh Fringe. Exhibitors will be displaying fair trade products from across the globe at the city's Grassmarket from Friday 28 to Monday 31 August.

Exclusive hand printed fabrics from K1 Yarns!

Making clothes has always been my passion. I had my first sewing machine when I was 11 years old, and was sewing garments long before I even learnt to knit.

When people ask me whether I go to visit other wool shops when I am on holiday I always reply, 'no, because I am too busy visiting fabric shops'! Sadly, fabric shops and the perfect dress fabrics are like gold-dust! My sewing friends and I are forced to pursue the delights of hand printed dress fabrics from far away exotic locations to satisfy our sewing needs!

So it was, that whilst dithering over whether or not to order some beautiful hand printed fabric from New Zealand a few months ago, that I said to myself ,'I know so many talented artists here in Glasgow and Edinburgh, why don't I try to encourage them to print some fabrics'!

And there you have it. K1 Cloth was born!

I am beside myself with excitement to announce our first range of bespoke, hand printed fabrics for quilting and dressmaking. These 100 % cotton fabrics are designed exclusively for K1 Yarns and entirely hand printed in Scotland! The fabric collections will be available to purchase in 2 meter 'Coupons' for garments, or as fat quarters for quilting. They are exquisite, beautiful, original pieces of art by some of our most talented young artists and you will use them to make the most gorgeous creations the world has ever seen!
