Spinning Equipment for the 21 century
Our Fyberspates weekend has another exciting event to add to the itinerary! Local electronics expert and fiber enthusiast, Brendon Lim, has invented a new electronic spinning wheel.
The Alien Spinner is an electronic spinning wheel designed to bring spinning equipment into the 21st century. It features a smoothly variable computer controlled spin speed, which can be set using either the pedal or the integrated touch screen display. The Alien Spinner also features an innovative quick release bobbin system which allows bobbins to be removed and replaced within seconds.
All Alien Spinners are hand-made in West Lothian using locally sourced hardwood. In fact, our timber supplier can tell us which exact tree each board is from, and where it used to stand.
Alien Spinner is designed with upgradability in mind: add on modules to expand the spinner’s capabilities can be easily added. Future modules include systems for measuring produced yardage, twists per inch and even wraps per inch as you spin.

Covetables Cupcakes
Imagine my delight when I discovered recently that one of my regular knitting customers has her own CUPCAKE business! Well of course I ordered some right away! Covetables Cupcakes are now the K1 Yarns official brand! Michelle uses only natural fruit flavourings and colourings in her cupcakes, which makes them extra delicious! Covetables arrive at our Edinburgh shop on November 12!
